Exposição de arte contemporânea Sometimes, rarely, we are gifted a glimpse of something far grander, far beyond us. A momentary change of perspective that lifts us out of the everyday, out of the body almost, beyond the ordinary, where we encounter an immensity too vast to be held or grasped. An experience of the sublime: beautiful and disorienting at once. In such moments, our sense of self and of scale is overturned. We are reminded of our own smallness and fragility, yet this reminder inspires more humility than fear. It loosens the boundaries of the self and opens us to a deeper sense of connection: with the world, with others, with the vastness that surrounds us. The Latin sublimis evokes what is lofty, elevated, exalted. It is that which transcends a threshold, going beyond. The sublime cannot be produced or commanded, only invited; cannot be translated, only gestured at. Ironically, it is when investigating the sublime – the vast, the grand, that which is beyond – that Fiumani’s work finds more containment. The overload of references, motifs and color is increasingly framed within larger shapes. Images and symbols are nested within one another, forming layers of meaning that
